Last Monday, March 8th, the ninth edition of FINNOSUMMIT Hour took place, which had as its main theme the participation of women in the growing Fintech industry in Latin America.
Cristina Junqueira, co-founder of Nubank, Laura Cruz, Country Manager of MasterCard Mexico and Irene Arias Hofman, CEO of Bid Lab, were in charge of this conversation that revolved around the financial inclusion landscape and future opportunities.
One of the important facts was that 35% of fintech companies in the region have been founded by women, a figure that contrasts significantly with the financial industry as a total, where only 6% are part of the board of directors. However, companies with gender diversity have a 25% better performance than those where executive positions are occupied only by men.
Cristina commented that diversity always represents an advantage, since a company where there is more diversity is a company that has a greater capacity to understand and create products for all markets.
Regarding the key actions to create a more inclusive future, they agreed that the interest and participation of girls in technology training workshops should be encouraged, as there is already a large technology gap in Latin America and preparing girls we will have women who can integrate naturally into this market.
