This year’s edition of FINNOSUMMIT, the most important Fintech event in latin America, took place on September the 12th and 13th at the Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral in Mexico City. Over 1500 investors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions representatives, consultants and high impact executives from 15 different countries attended the conference.
At this fascinating keynote, Marcelo Lima (Partner, Monashees Capital) describes the opportunity that represents one of the fastest growing Fintech markets in Latin America and the one with more Fintech startups in the region in 2018. As described by Marcelo, Brazil is a very big market , one where population is more and more used to new technologies and where traditional financial institutions can not keep pace with increasing demands for innovation from consumers; furthermore a large part of the population is unbanked or underbanked and there is a lack of financial education.
These and other reasons make Brazil a very good market for startups innovating in insurance, wealth management, lending, financial inclusion or in any other segment within the financial services’ industry, given that, as the speaker concluded, “Brazil is a huge market full of problems. And for entrepreneurs, problems are always an opportunity for innovation.”
