This year’s edition of FINNOSUMMIT, the most important Fintech event in latin America, took place on September the 12th and 13th at the Centro Cultural Roberto Cantoral in Mexico City. Over 1500 investors, entrepreneurs, financial institutions representatives, consultants and high impact executives from 15 different countries attended the conference.
At this Fireside Chat we had the editor and founder of Iupana Katie Llanos-Small and Ximena Iñigo CEO & Co- Founder of KarmaPulse, who chatted about the consequences of data digitization, about information privacy and ownership, as well as about who should be held responsible for the use of this data. In that respect Ximena’s opinion is that it is a shared responsibility of both the users sharing the information and the institutions or companies receiving it.
They also offered some advice on the way a company can get data from a user. For example, they recommended improving user experience in terms and conditions in order to facilitate the information transaction. They also advised to present, in a clear and immediate way, the benefits that users could get. This said, in Ximena’s opinion, users have to always be given the option to withdraw the access to their data given that, as she stated “in the end, they are its owners”.
